Description:
The free concert will feature dozens of local tuba and euphonium players who will usher in the Christmas spirit through their music. "We'll have tuba and euphonium players from all over Georgia, some from as far away as Atlanta and South Carolina," said Raymond Castleberry, coordinator of the Athens TubaChristmas. "It's going to be a lot of fun!" Various TubaChristmas concerts take place around the world. TubaChristmas was conceived in 1974 in New York City's Rockefeller Plaza Ice Rink as a tribute to the late artist/teacher William J. Bell, born on Christmas Day, 1902, according to the TubaChristmas website. For more information on TubaChristmas, visit www.tubachristmas.com.
