The aim of this workshop is to help students and post-docs communicate their research to people outside the discipline: to policymakers; to media; to students; and to general audiences. Building on the techniques of Stony Brook University's Center for Communicating Science, we use improvisational theatre games, direct coaching, and mock interviews to help participants hone their communication skills. The goals is to help them speak clearly, effectively, and engagingly about their research in a way that non-specialists can understand. This workshop is free, but spaces are extremely limited, and application is required. The application process closes on 3/13 at midnight. Selected applicants will be notified by 5pm on 3/18. Register at Thinc. at UGA.Participants must be able to attend the workshop in its entirety.Part of Thinc. at UGA Week.
