Entire Florida basketball team, including Will Yeguete, cleared to practice

By Jason Lieser

The Palm Beach Post

Today was the first time in the regular season the Gators had their whole roster available for a practice.

No. 8 Florida saw three key reserves return for today’s practice and all three could play Saturday vs. Alabama (12 p.m., ESPN) if things go well between now and then.

The biggest addition is F Will Yeguete, the top sub and one of UF’s best defenders. He had surgery to remove loose particles in his left knee and has not played since Feb. 5.

“Yeguete is cleared to play, but he hasn’t done anything as it relates to practice and contact, so today’ll be the first day he actually gets into some contact and gets into playing,” coach Billy Donovan said. “I have no idea right now. My expectation on him going into the game is not very high just because I haven’t seen him play.

“Obviously he’s got two days to practice but I would hard-pressed to believe he’s going to be the same player. It’ll probably take him some time to get back, but at least he can start working to get back in shape and get back in rhythm and timing and those kind of things.”

Yeguete is averaging 6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

G Michael Frazier (concussion) and F Casey Prather (laceration on forehead) also were allowed to practice today and should be active for the Alabama game.

If those three need time, they have it. Florida has three regular-season games remaining and the SEC Tournament before heading into the NCAA Tournament.
