The other day we saw an amazing Thai commercial which is a true tear jerker. When done properly, ads can be like small movies, little emotional explosions.

So after reading this story, it occurred to us that there is a natural one for ACC fans of a certain age.
Imagine the setting: a tournament party, where the gathered are ready to watch the Big Dance but warming up with ESPN Classic, which is showing a great ACC game from the ’70s. The party is raucous and everyone is in high spirits. And then the game stops for a commercial and someone says something nostalgic and sings the first line from The Pilot Life Song.
Then everyone joins in, softly at first, but by the time it gets to the last line, it’s pretty loud.
Then it’s over and silent. Someone wipes a tear.
Anyone who lived in that era would melt. For those of you who didn’t, you’ll never know how thoroughly that song took hold and won’t understand it anyway. But here’s the commercial, thanks to YouTube.
