The Florida Gators track and field teams will send a program-record 28 qualifiers to the NCAA Outdoor Championships next month as 14 women, 11 men and three relays qualified over the three-day NCAA East Prelims that ended yesterday.
The Gators qualified 17 on the last day of the East Prelims (to go along with eight from day-two) as the men look win back-to-back team championships and the women look to finish in the top 5. On the final day of qualifying, Omar Craddock and Jeremy Postin were the only Gators victories of the day. Craddock, who won the triple jump with a distance of 16.04m, will be looking for yet another NCAA crown. Postin won the hammer throw with a best throw of 67.81m.
The only other victories on the final day of the East Prelims for the Gators were Eddie Lovett (110m hurdles) and the men's 4x400m relay team who once again finished in the 3:04s range. All in all, the Gators do have enough qualifiers from both the men's and women's teams to seriously challenge for the NCAA Outdoor Championship.
