Today is day two of a three-day candidate qualifying period: it began Wednesday; it wraps up tomorrow. Candidates here and around the state are signing up for spots on the Georgia’s July 31 primary elections. In what will likely be one of the most closely watched legislative elections in Georgia, state Rep Doug McKillip—the Democrat-turned-Republican—qualified for a reelection run; he’ll face Athens attorney Regina Quick in the summer primary.
