Athens is under a Freezing Rain Advisory, in effect through 1 o’clock this afternoon. Hall County is included in a Winter Storm Warning area that covers much of the rest of northeast Georgia, with the possibility of accumulating ice through the early afternoon hours. Several school systems in northeast Georgia have cancelled classes for the day, but all schools in Athens and in the immediate vicinity are open for normal class hours today.
