The suspect in a hit-and-run wreck in Athens surrenders to Athens-Clarke County Police: William Heaton is 22 years old, from Cartersville. He’s facing a long list of charges—DUI, among them—stemming from the early morning hours of February 16, when he was allegedly behind the wheel of the truck that struck and critically injured Emily Bowman, a 19 year-old Kennesaw State University student from Woodstock. She’s still in a coma at Athens Regional Medical Center; Heaton is due for a bond hearing this morning in Clarke County Superior Court.
