A New Year’s Day fire destroys the childhood home of confessed Athens cop killer Jamie Hood. The blaze burned a home on Rannick Road in Athens; Athens-Clarke County firefighters say it appears to have been accidental. Jamie Hood was not home: he’s in the Barrow County jail, awaiting a death penalty trial for the 2011 murder of Athens-Clarke County Police officer Buddy Christian.
