There’s a new top cop in Comer: Dennis Bell is now the full-time police chief in the Madison County town. Bell had been interim chief since Brent Zellner stepped down to wage his campaign for the Madison County Sheriff’s office. Democrat Zellner will be on the November general election ballot, facing the winner of next Tuesday’s Kip Thomas-Clayton Lowe Republican runoff.
