Today is runoff election day: polls are open til 7 o’clock tonight for voters in Madison, Jackson, Banks, and Hall counties, as they settle sheriff’s elections that were unsettled after the July 31 primaries. Voters in three precincts in northern Athens-Clarke County join their counterparts in all or parts of twenty counties across northeast Georgia, nominating a Republican candidate for Congress: Hall County state Rep Doug Collins and former radio talk show host Martha Zoller are running in the 9th Congressional District.
