Dixie Carter Dies, The FairTax is Debated in White County, Candidates all over the 9th District

By Martha Zoller

Dixie Carter was best remembered as 'Julia Sugarbaker' from Designing Women.  I loved her dressing down of people like Ray Don or the current Miss Georgia World (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qz_ZpoYBzaw).  That was the best.  Ms. Carter died of complications of Cancer.  Seems that disease is all around us.  In the next few weeks, Relay for Life will be happening again to support Cancer survivors and Cancer research. See how you can be involved this year on June 4 at Road Atlanta. http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLFY10SA?pg=entry&fr_id=24393

This email was sent to supporters of John Oxendine's Health Care initiatives regarding the FairTax meeting in White County on Sunday.

"Mr. Oxendine has a book for you that I think you'll want to read.  The book outlines the danger of big government and how our freedoms can be lost one by one.  The book is a classic written in 1849 by Frederic Bastiat, but still applicable today.

Despite all of our best efforts, we were unable to stop President Obama in his healthcare takeover effort.   As you may know, Commissioner Oxendine has made some strong statements about the passage of the bill and is hopeful that states will sue the federal government in this matter and that the courts might rule the bill unconstitutional.

Commissioner Oxendine will be in White County on Sunday afternoon, April 11, 2010 to conduct a Fair Tax Town Hall in conjunction with Americans for Fair Taxation's state affiliate.  There is no charge for the event.

Join us from 2:30pm to 4:00pm at the White County Park and Recreation at 327 Asbestos Road in Cleveland, GA.  You'll hear from Lloyd Newsome of the Fair Tax Organization, John Oxendine, and many of the candidates running for the 9th District Congressional seat.

Many of you are Fair Tax Supporters. This is another important issue that needs to be discussed in addition to healthcare because the Federal Government is moving closer and closer to financial ruin.

There is limited space, so please arrive a little early if you want a good seat.  If you would like to attend, please RSVP to: tim@johnoxendine.com or just hit "reply."

 Sincerely,

Tim Echols, Senior Policy Advisor for Mr. Oxendine"

It was a good turnout and there were many candidates there.

All over North Georgia, Candidates were out in full force on Saturday and Sunday.  In Hall County, there was a meet and greet of sorts at Longstreet Cafe before the Hall County Conservative Forum at the Elk's Club.  Karen Handel and Gerry Purcell were there, but the main event was a discussion with the candidates for the 9th Congressional District Special Election.  Also, Bobby Reese, who decided not to resign his seat and take his chances in the regular primary was there.
