With the House in play, the plan to retire announced by Evan Bayh yesterday rocked the senate. Dick Morris (dickmorris.com) is predicting as many as 60 seats in the House and 13 seats in the Senate being in play.
The big news yesterday was the smack down by former VP Cheney and current VP Biden. But the story you may have missed was the smack down of VP Biden by new Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown. Biden called into question Brown's knowledge of military law. Maybe the VP should ask his son, Beau, who just came back from Iraq. Beau knows military law because he served as an attorney for the military. Scott Brown has been the lead attorney for New England for the Army National Guard. He's been practicing military law for 30 years. I think he knows his facts and he fought back eloquently. (http://wizbangblog.com/content/2010/02/16/scott-brown-1-joe-biden-0.php)
John Brennan, who is supposed to be the counter terrorism guy and National Security guy for the administration. He made some ridiculous comment about the 20% recidivism rate of Gitmo "releasees" going back to terrorism as compared to the 50% recidivism rate in the US prison system. Not only does this reinforce the fact that the Obama administration looks at terrorists as common criminals, but also, this administration wants to try these guys in this system and incarcerate them in this system. I guess they want a 50% recidivism rate of Gitmo "releasees."
