As a kid who went to years of Falcons games with my dad (because no one else would go with him), I am so pumped about this game. I am a much bigger college football fan, but I love the Falcons. What are your fondest memories of the Falcons? Mine was the 1975 Falcons vs. Vikings Monday Night Football Game. The Vikings were undefeated coming in and noone thought the Falcons could win. QB Bob Lee hadn't been consistant. My dad had the flu so he couldn't take me, but a friend from work did. The Falcons won that game--with 5 field goals and a score of 15-0. I also loved the Steve Bartkowski era, but that might have been a little crush on my part.
Then the Governor gives his State of the State address and gets one of the biggest and most controversial issues off the table--the Hospital Bed Tax or the Provider Fee, depending on what side you are on. This was an issue in my campaign for Congress and for others around the state. In 2010, this "bed tax" was rammed through without explanation. I didn't support it at the time and then-Governor Perdue was on his way out and didn't feel the need to explain it. The fact is because we took TARP and Stimulus money of over 3 billion dollars to fill the gap caused by the recession, the state is not allowed to cut Medicaid benefits to reduce outlays until after 2014.So the choice was to cut provider payments or find another way. I think this is a good fix to a problem that was created by bad initial policy of raising taxes. Elected officials at the time should have explained it better, but they just wanted to hide from it. I applaud Governor Deal for finding a solution to a difficult problem.
DC Republicans take their winter retreat and try to find a path back out of the wilderness as DC prepares for a lackluster inaugural. Low Key is the word of the weekend. Reince Pribus is also meeting to find a message and Gov. Scott Walker and Sen. Marco Rubio are traveling to the places that make you think, "they might be thinking of a run for president." And have you noticed Senator Rubio has a new haircut. He's getting ready.
Did you watch Lance Armstrong, I didn't. I'm just sorry I ever spent any time on this guy and I think it will be too good for him to lose everything. He's at the end of his career but Manti Te'o is at the beginning--or is it the end? I think there are some serious mental issues going on here. What to you think and have you ever been duped online. Early in the internet comment days, I used made up names to post comments, but I realized quickly that it was too much to keep up with. I am who I am and I will stand by what I've said. I knew in my Congressional campaign the attecks would come from my long public record on the air. I feel sorry for the poor intern who had to listne to 10,000 hours of Martha Zoller.
Have a great weekend. I'll be back Monday on Zoller and Bryant.
